Same-Sex Schools: "Scholastic Success," or "Stupid Segregation?"
Just read a very interesting Newsweek Article about this topic which really brought the topic to light. Has anyone realized that this issue is becoming so prevalent in schools? Given, it hasn't been accepted by all, and for most participating schools, are probably still optional, however, this doesn't detract from the curious oddity of this program. The link for the article is at the bottom, it's about a page long, but really interesting, in a very "PC Friday" kinda way (for you Liddy and Hill fans). I'll just quote some of the more interesting methods implemented in the model same-sex school.

Because males have less serotonin in their brains, which Gray was taught may cause them to fidget more, desks were removed from the boys' classrooms and they got short exercise periods throughout the day.
Because females have more oxytocin, a hormone linked to bonding, girls were given a carpeted area where they sit and discuss their feelings...
and
...teachers need to change their techniques. They should light classrooms more brightly for boys and speak to them loudly
and
teachers should illustrate a story before writing it and use an overhead projector to practice reading and writing.
